In cold room or cooler room warehouse, loading docks are the place where it is easy to leak cool air to outside, and outside heat entering inside. Normally, the dock doors are thermal insulated type Overhead Sectional Doors. And outside is equipped with dock shelter for insulation during loading. But, the weak point is the Dock Leveler. A regular dock leveler is empty under its platform. So heat is easy to transmit through the dock leveler. It means that, in 24 hours a day, all loading docks are leaking cool air to outside even when the dock doors closed. This is a so big loss of energy and create high electricity cost. To solve this problem, Kenvo develops several solutions with specific type Dock Levelers, to insulate heat and keep low temperature inside warehouse. 

We have three solutions to solve energy loss of loading docks in cold room warehouse and keep low temperature inside room.

1. Telescopic dock leveler: 

Install telescopic dock leveler inside the warehouse, rather than in the front of it. The telescopic dock leveler is behind the dock doors. When loading job finished, telescopic will retract inward. Then thermal insulated dock doors will be able to close to the ground floor completely. The loading dock openings are completely closed, so there is leaking area of cool air.

2. Vertical storing dock leveler: 

Vertical storing dock leveler can stand up vertically after loading job finished. So it is also behind the dock doors. Then dock doors can close completely to the ground floor. So there will be heat conduction and energy loss through dock leveler. 

3. Regular dock leveler injecting thermal insulation foam: 

For a regular dock leveler, the area of heat loss is its platform steel sheet. The sheet is only 6-8mm thick single layer steel plate, which is highly thermal conductive. We can inject thermal insulation polyurethane foam under its platform sheet, to cover it completely with thick PU foam layer. Then it will be thermal insulated.
